Sara Paretsky (born June 8, 1947) is an author of detective fiction, best known for her novels focused on the female protagonist V. I. Warshawski, who seemed to model your slacker noir in some ways. I met Sara at a reading in Toledo OH- she was delightful - entertained the audience.

Great point, Kathy! I think it's worth doing some research to see how female detectives relate to the slacker concept. I'm sure it's much more complex than what I mentioned. I haven't read huge amounts of Sara Paretsky, but are you referring to the way she rejects some mainstream values? I suppose all female PIs are opting out of a system that told them they couldn't do it. Thanks for sharing.
